Hull Kung Fu
we are a Shaolin Kung Fu club located in Hull, UK. We are a voluntary non-profit organisation teaching children and adults in the art of Shaolin Kung Fu. We have an MBE award for Voluntary service from the Queen and also a Duke of York award
With our disciplined structure we will help you or your child concentrate when they need to by focusing their attention on the movements of Kung Fu
We are trained to look for drug abuse and aid anybody struggling with addiction. We have strong links with organisations who can help further than just us
Learning to defend yourself will always help with confidence in fighting; But we concentrate on nurturing people to become more vocal in classes and to end up teaching others.
Our classes are delivered by our team with years of experience who are passionate about developing people.
The classes cost £3.50 each and there is an annual insurance cost of £7 which is to be paid on the 3rd lesson. The first lesson is free of charge
All members must read all the documents and instructors must have printed copies in their folders
We'd really love to hear from you so why not drop us an email and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Please have a read of our FAQs
Instructors typically have red stripes down their trousers and assistant instructors have white stripes on their trousers. The instructors are minimum of a brown sash so anyone with brown, black or gold are often an instructor. You will be able to tell by their mannerisms as they speak and train with the class
All of our classes are family classes, so kids and adults training together. If there are any aspects to training that aren't suitable for kids then we split the class up and do something different with the kids
Our minimum age is 7, and we don't have a set maximum. Parents/guardians must drop off and collect their kids (under 16s) in person. If you have any concerns then please get in touch!
Until you grade you're not expected to wear uniform. Just wear comfortable trousers and a top. Once you grade you should speak to an instructor about ordering you the kit. You'll need proper martial arts trousers and a plain white T-shirt or a club shirt which is £10
A drink - water, isotonic drinks or just juice. No fizzy or chilled drinks! If you are under 18 then you will need to bring a parent or guardian
Of course! As long as we are aware whats wrong and you tell us if we have to do anything specific if something happens then by all means come along!
100% yes! Speak to the instructors when you come so they're aware what you can and can't do with your injuries. As long as an instructor is aware we can alter your training so the injury isn't aggravated
We aren't able to segregate individuals off however we can keep you to the side away from most people. When you come to do the sign up just make the instructors aware
We are members of WAKO (World Association of Kickboxing Organizations) and as such we can compete in any of their open competitions
We have worked with a lot of children with their behaviour. Whilst we can't promise a quick fix, we see a definite improvement in most children. Please bear in mind that if your child is too disruptive and it has a negative impact on the class regularly then your child would have to take a hiatus
